Question: Is the phrase "to come out against" in Gilbert Hunt's The Late War a "rare phrase"?

The critics note that "These phrases are rare—meaning that they are not found in other contemporary books of Joseph's time, and that they are not found in the King James Version of the bible" [1]

In order to make this a "rare phrase," the critics must equate the synonyms "compelled" and "obliged"

  • The Late War 46:9-10: "prepared...to come out against"
  • Book of Mormon, Alma 58:16: "preparations to come out against"

The core phrase "come out against" appears multiple times in the Bible

  • Judges 9:33: "come out against"
  • Numbers 20:18: "come out against"
  • Deuteronomy 28:7: "come out against"
  • Joshua 8:5: "come out against"
