Where was the Gospel of Christ?

HANK HANEGRAAF:

Now, it’s also important to point out that it was Joseph Smith who said that he received a spectacular vision in which two celestial personages communicated to him that all existing Churches were wrong, that all creeds were an abomination, all professors corrupt, that the Church had ceased to exist on the face of the earth. That he had come to restore a Church that had disappeared so I think that we should underscore the fact that it was Mormonism that attacked Christianity and said that it had not to be reformed but to be restored because it had disappeared.

RICHARD ABANES:

Right. Absolutely and this again is in response to Tara. Who said Mormons weren’t Christian to begin with? It was not Christians it was Mormons. Let me read a couple of quotes here. Brigham Young said ‘The Christian world so-called are heathens as to their knowledge of the salvation of God’. Brigham Young said ‘With regard to true theology a more ignorant people never lived than the so-called present world of Christianity’. John Taylor another one of the Mormon prophets, third prophet after Brigham Young, said ‘Are Christians ignorant? Yes, as ignorant of things of God as the brute beast.’ So these are quotes that come from Mormons themselves who started this whole religion.

The Truth about the Apostasy and the Need for a Restoration:

  • Prediction of—Does the Bible predict that an apostasy would occur? (Link)
  • Evidence in the Bible—Does the Bible show evidence that a tendency to apostasy was present even while the apostles were alive? (Link)
  • Apostasy not complete?—Do other Christian denominations believe that no other church on earth is complete, or is this an arrogant belief assumed only by the “Mormons”? (Link)
