FAIR Conference Dates Announced

March 1, 2008 by awyatt

FAIR has announced the dates for the 2008 FAIR Conference. It will be held August 7th and 8th at South Towne Expo Center in Sandy, Utah.

This is the tenth year for the FAIR Conference, and every one gets a bit better and bigger than the year before. The speaker lineup has not been announced, but is being finalized. (FAIR does take serious suggestions for speakers and topics, by the way.)

Additional information, as it becomes available, will be on the FAIR Conference page.

This will give me an opportunity to shuttle between the FAIR and the Sunstone conferences, depending on which sessions are most interesting!

I suggest talks on scriptural objections to restored priesthoods, and the Book of Mormon and reputed plagiarism from the New Testament. I also would like to see Blake Ostler do an update on his expansion theory regarding the book of Mormon. Even if these might not ever be accepted subjects for talks they might make good articles for FAIR Wiki.

The problem with the current FAIR response to plagiarism it does not do the side by side comparisons that Jerald and Sandra Tanner did. The charge of literary dependance of the Book of Mormon on the New Testament is common. And the critics usually have examples that stump me. I even adopted Blake Ostler’s view many KJV snippets were used in translation.

FAIR usually does a mighty good job having speakers that handle most tough subjects. Although i wish more time were expended on Answering Evangelicals Bible verse by Bible verse.

I am so excited! I look forward to this every year!

Please have Matt Roper, Matt Brown, John Sorenson, John Tvedtnes, John Gee, Brian Hauglid, Bill Hamblin, and of course Daniel Peterson.

    Thanks!

The conference is one of my favorite activities of the year also. I plan on being there, if only to keep all the young whipper snappers in line – GRIN!

    Best,
    Kerry
