Orsamus Turner (1852): "Martin Harris was...an honest, worthy citizen"
Orsamus Turner, who considered Joseph Smith "a cheat and a fraud," had this to say about Martin Harris. Turner felt that Joseph Smith duped Martin Harris into mortgaging his farm in order to finance the printing of the Book of Mormon:
Martin Harris, was a farmer of Palmyra, the owner of a good farm, and an honest, worthy citizen; but especially given to religious enthusiasm, new creeds, the more extravagant the better. [1]
